Training program: “Therapeutic education of asthmatic patients” (ongoing)

Five pharmaceutical companies (AstraZeneca, GSK, HRA-Pharma, Méda Pharma and Novartis) provided inhalation devices and education materials.

Content
The objective of this training program is to provide pharmacists with concrete ways to intervene in the therapeutic education of asthmatic patients. The session is divided into two parts: a theoretical section on asthma and asthma care, and 3 workshops on:

• demonstration and assessment of inhalation techniques
• assessment of asthma control
• therapeutic education of asthmatic patients (eg adherence to asthma therapy, reduction in allergen exposure...).

This training program has received scientific and technical approval from the professional committee in charge of evaluating the quality of continuing education programs intended for French community pharmacists (HCFPC).

Duration
One day

Launched in July 2008, the program is planned for a hundred sessions in different regions.
